Shipping & Policies

Shipping Information

Our shopping cart automatically generates a shipping amount based on the total amount of your order.  As you know, our items come in all shapes, sizes, and weights!  We ship via US Postal Priority Service unless otherwise requested by the customer. Small items shipped in the US (such as patterns and books that will fit in a manila envelope) will be charged less than Priority if possible. We will always ship in the smallest package available and alter your shipping fees accordingly. We understand that shipping adds to the cost of your purchase, and we wish to be as fair as possible! However, sale items may incur additional shipping than what is initially on your invoice (the items didn't get any smaller or lighter - they just got cheaper!).  You are not billed at the time that you place your order - we process your payment ourselves in our store once all items have been picked and packed.  This allows us to alter the automatic shipping rates that are generated by our shopping cart software, if applicable.

International Orders

Please Note: We are not responsible for the receipt of international shipping. We send our international packages via the least expensive method but if a customer wants tracking or insurance they need to request it from us and will be billed at the applicable rate. If tracking or insurance is purchased and the package is not received we will assist in the tracking request but we will not be responsible for the receipt of the package.  Any customs, duty, or taxes are the responsibility of the customer.

Global Priority Countries:

We ship Global Priority Mail to all countries that are on the Global Priority system. A Global Priority Mail shipment to Canada, Mexico, and to all other countries is billed at actual shipping costs. In most cases, Global Priority Mail is less expensive than surface mail and will arrive in approximately 7-10 days as opposed to 6 to 8 weeks via surface. Shipments that are over 4 lbs or will not fit into the USPS large flat rate envelope will be billed as quoted by USPS.  If possible, large orders may be shipped in multiple flat rate envelopes, as this is often more cost-effective than a single box, unless you directly specify that you wish to receive only one package.

Non-Global Priority Countries:

Shipping prices to non-Global Priority Mail Countries can vary widely. Please specify when ordering whether you want surface or air shipping. Shipping charges will be billed as quoted by the US Post Office.

Sales Tax

Orders placed from within the state of Texas will have 8.25% sales tax added. International orders (outside the US) may be subject to customs duties and taxes and are the responsibility of the purchaser.

Payment Options

We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. For those of you who prefer to purchase offline, we'll gladly process your order by phone or fax with a credit card or mail with a money order or check! When you complete your order in the online store, just choose the "fax" or "mail" payment option to print out an invoice to fax or mail in with your payment.

How do I create an account and shop at the Quilt Asylum Online?

To shop online, add individual items to your shopping cart. You can view and save your shopping cart at anytime.

If you want your billing and shipping info to be saved for future purchases you can create an account at the time of purchase. If you create an account, you will need to remember your login ID and password to access your account for future purchases. If you forget your account password, you can have it E-mailed to you from the account login page. (Note: your credit card information is not saved for your protection and must be entered each time you make a purchase.)


We cannot accept returns on cut fabric, nor can we accept returns on copyrighted materials.   We will gladly accept returns for items that are defective or any non-fabric or copyrighted items that are in their original condition and packaging.  We offer store credit for returns.

Store Policies

If you are purchasing fabric by the yard online, the minimum cut is 1/2 yard unless otherwise indicated. To select fractional yardage requirements, change the quantity of the item in your cart by using a decimal to show the fractional amount. i.e. 1/2 yard = .5; 3/4 yard = .75 - To show your new total, click the "update cart" button.

Our mission is to provide you with the most exciting and enjoyable quilt shopping experience possible on the internet. Our goal is to provide only top quality merchandise. We will guarantee shipment within the continental United States, but cannot provide the same guarantee internationally. We will happily replace damaged merchandise if necessary and provide a refund on unopened merchandise other than cut fabrics and copyrighted materials. We welcome your comments or suggestions.


Online “Wish List”

Maybe you'd like to send a "hint" regarding a special occasion to a special someone. Or maybe you'd just like to keep a list of your favorite things for future shopping! Our wish list is easy to use! Just select the items you want into your shopping cart, then select Save Cart "Wish List" and enter your e-mail address and the e-mail address of the person you want to send your "hint" to along with a message. The contents of your cart will be saved with an ID number that will then be e-mailed to both of you. You (or your friend) will be able to retrieve the contents of the wish list by returning to the site and clicking on "check out." Just insert the wish list ID from your e-mail and the contents of the cart will reappear like magic.

Earn one punch for every $10 merchandise purchase (pre-tax). Ten punches can be redeemed for 10% off your next full-priced purchase.

Not valid on classes or consignment items and cannot be combined with other discounts.

How do I become Certifiably Committed?

Save up 5 filled Mad Stash Cards and surrender them all at once to become Certifiably Committed.  You will then receive a permanent discount card good for an additional 5% off everything you purchase from us, including sale items.  You will also earn the privilege to shop our regularly-scheduled sales events a day early.
