Broderie Perse is an applique technique that goes back to the 17th century taking birds and flowers from one piece of fabric and appliqueing them on a separate piece of fabric to create a scene or central design. Australian Karen Styles brings the twist, using modern fabrics and quick and easy English paper piecing, teaching you to design your own motif.
Learn the art of English Paper Piecing and the fun of fussy cutting fabrics. Karen Styles will teach you what to look for in fabric prints and how to fussy cut to get that perfect design! Then you will put your Broderie Perse and EPP together and watch your work of art come to life.

Instructor Bio: | I began my quilting journey over 20 years ago and started teaching not long after. From 2003-2017 I was the owner of Somerset Patchwork, a store in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, where I specialized in reproduction fabrics and traditional patchwork classes. These days I find myself traveling around the world sharing my knowledge and love every minute of it, I especially enjoy sharing my skills and modern techniques to make antique looking quilts. I am a quilt designer, pattern writer and a fabric designer for Marcus Fabrics specializing in Reproduction fabrics from the 1800?s. I would call myself a traditional quilter, covering tried and true techniques, but, finding an easy and achievable way to make them! |
